FAQS

Hopefully you’ll find the answer you’re looking for below. If not, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

The first step is to complete the application form on our website. This gives our coaching team the information they need about your child's age, swimming experience and current ability.

Once the form has been reviewed, we'll contact you about the next step and, where appropriate, arrange a trial session so we can recommend the most suitable squad.

Yes. We encourage prospective members to attend a trial session before joining. This gives your child the opportunity to experience training, meet our coaches and swimmers, and allows us to recommend the most appropriate squad for their age and ability.

Training requirements vary depending on the squad. Younger swimmers generally attend one or two sessions each week, while older and more experienced swimmers may train more frequently. Our coaches will recommend a training programme that's appropriate for your child's stage of development and swimming goals.

Competitive swimming is at the heart of our club, and swimmers are encouraged to take part in competitions appropriate to their age, ability and stage of development. Many begin with club events before progressing to open meets and county championships, while others go on to compete at regional and national level. Our coaches will help every swimmer build confidence and gain competition experience as they develop.

Most swimmers begin their journey at their chosen home training base, either Harlow or Dunmow, and continue to train there as they develop through our House Squads.

As swimmers progress, those who demonstrate the required ability, commitment and potential may be invited into our Pathway Squads. These squads train across both Harlow and Dunmow, giving swimmers access to a broader coaching programme and preparing them for higher level competition.

The Pathway Squads are designed for swimmers who are ready to train and compete at a higher level. Places are offered by invitation from our coaching team, based on a swimmer's ability, commitment, training attitude and overall development.

Train Close to Home

Many families choose Harlow as their home training base because it’s convenient and allows swimmers to develop their skills close to home.

Our House Squads provide structured coaching, helping swimmers improve their technique, fitness and racing skills while enjoying competitions and becoming part of the club community.

Most swimmers remain at their chosen home pool as they progress through these squads.
